The Emergence of BioMSAR Fuel

In a quest for sustainable and cost-effective energy sources, emulsion fuel company Quadrise has recently inked a joint development agreement with BTG Bioliquids BV. Aimed at encompassing BTG’s fast pyrolysis bio-oil (FPBO) into Quadrise’s bioMSAR fuel, this collaboration signifies a momentous stride in the green energy sector. BTG presently operates three FPBO production plants in the Netherlands, Finland, and Sweden. The synergistic efforts of these industry titans are projected to result in a bioMSAR emulsion product, which could be engine-test-ready within a year.

The Quadrise Emission Reduction Technologies

Quadrise’s patented MSAR technology specializes in emulsifying bunker fuels with water to generate fuel with significantly lower emissions by mass. In tandem with this, the company’s bioMSAR process utilizes a similar concept, incorporating bio-feedstocks to further reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Quadrise’s alliance with BTG Bioliquids exemplifies an exciting advancement in biofuel development.

CEO Jason Miles expressed the company’s enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the potential of advanced biofuels derived from woody biomass and their cost-competitiveness with net-zero solutions. Furthermore, the partnership aligns seamlessly with Quadrise’s commercial aspirations, specifically with MSC Shipmanagement and other stakeholders, propelling the company forward in its mission to achieve net-zero bioMSAR by 2030.

The Future of Decarbonization in the Marine Sector

With climate change at the forefront of global concerns, the marine sector is increasingly recognizing the importance of decarbonization and emission reductions. The fusion of BTG Bioliquids’ fast pyrolysis bio-oils with Quadrise’s bioMSAR technology has the potential to deliver a powerful and economically viable solution to marine industry challenges. As a result, the partnership between Quadrise and BTG Bioliquids sets the stage for maritime decarbonization, taking a critical step towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.
