K+S Aktiengesellschaft, a global mining company, joins forces with shipping firm Swire Bulk to develop pioneering decarbonization solutions. This collaboration aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions within the maritime supply chain.

The ultimate goal is to offer customers in Europe and overseas a low-emission value chain from production sites to their doorstep.
Climate Commitments
Both K+S and Swire Bulk are dedicated to upholding the Paris Agreement’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. K+S is specifically targeting a 10% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 compared to 2020 levels. The company also aims to tackle transport logistics emissions with a similar 10% reduction by 2030.
Swire Bulk’s CEO, Peter Norborg, highlights the importance of collaboration across the entire maritime value chain for addressing decarbonization challenges. With the backing of John Swire and Sons, Swire Bulk demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability and responsible long-term operations.
Carbon-Reduction Milestones
In its pursuit of a greener future, Swire Bulk sets two ambitious targets. First, reducing carbon intensity by 50% in 2030, and second, achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Already, the company reports a significant 21% reduction in carbon intensity since 2014.
