Mabanaft Spearheads Revolutionary Hydrogen Fuel Initiative
Hamburg’s bustling port will soon be fuelled by hydrogen, as per an announcement by Germany’s pioneering energy company, Mabanaft. Binding themselves in a progressive collaboration, Mabanaft and Fairplay Towage Group have penned down a memorandum of understanding(MoU). The essence of this agreement revolves around Mabanaft fuelling Fairplay’s newly acquired hydrogen-powered tugboats, a revelation made known in an assertive email statement dispatched by the company on Wednesday. As part of this notable plan, a segment of Mabanaft’s tank storage at the Hamburg port is proposed to be adapted to hydrogen storage.

Volker Ebeling, the Senior Vice President for New Energy Supply and Infrastructure at Mabanaft, lauds this cohesive partnership with Fairplay Towage as a crucial mile-marker in the transition to carbon-neutral shipping in the Hamburg port. “Our collaborative efforts not only manifest our shared dedication to mitigating climate change but also signal our determination to drive sustainability in the shipping industry,” Ebeling conveyed in the statement, highlighting the significance of this joint endeavor.
Hydrogen: An Impressive Alternative Fuel
