A New Era in Crew Transfer Technology

In a groundbreaking move, France-based LD Tide has commissioned a state-of-the-art crew transfer vessel from Strategic Marine, an aluminum boat builder based in Singapore. The order represents the first instance of the company commissioning a vessel from a non-French shipyard. The new vessel will be a hybrid-ready StratCat 27, expertly designed by industry leader BMT. LD Tide, a joint venture between renowned French shipping organization Louis Dreyfus Armateurs and the UK’s Tidal Transit, currently owns and oversees a fleet of three crew transfer vessels (CTVs) serving the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm, located approximately 20 nautical miles off the French coastline.

Revolutionary Design for Maximum Efficiency

Strategic Marine’s SC27 is a marvel of design ingenuity. With a cutting-edge hull form that maximizes waterline length, the 27-meter vessel optimizes operational efficiency across a broad spectrum of loading conditions, effectively minimizing emissions and fuel consumption. Capable of achieving a top speed of 26 knots, the vessel stands as a testament to both sustainability and performance.

Unparalleled Comfort and Workspace

The state-of-the-art vessel boasts ample storage space, luxuriously comfortable sleeping quarters, and business-class seating for 24 offshore service and industrial personnel, as well as accommodations for three crew members. The bridge deck layout has been meticulously designed to enhance visibility from the helm while providing an ergonomic configuration that promotes long-term comfort for the bridge crew.

Eco-Conscious Hybrid Power Solutions

In collaboration with Sea Forrest Power Solutions and Danfoss Power Solutions, Strategic Marine has developed a retrofittable hybrid power option for the SC27. This groundbreaking parallel hybrid system increases efficiency, allowing for reductions in both main engine hours and maintenance requirements. Thanks to this innovative technology, the vessel experiences a significant decrease in noise and vibration levels. Depending on the vessel’s operational profile and charging facilities, the hybrid power option can also significantly reduce the ship’s operational carbon footprint.

Embracing Green Ship Recycling

In a further nod to sustainability, the SC27 features a Green Passport for ship recycling. This eco-friendly credential demonstrates the commitment of LD Tide and Strategic Marine to minimizing the environmental impact of their operations across the entire lifecycle of their vessels.

With the commissioning of the StratCat 27, LD Tide leads the charge in advancing sustainable and efficient crew transfer solutions for the offshore wind farm industry. This collaboration with Strategic Marine not only expands its operational capabilities but also firmly establishes its commitment to minimizing environmental impact in the maritime sector.
